Birth control pills
The day that my insurance company agreed to pay for my monthly birth control pills, I was deliriously happy. I never knew why they didn’t cover them in the first place.
Afterall, isn’t it cheaper to pay for birth control pills than to pay for the expenses of childbirth and future care for that child? It just didn’t make sense. So, the government finally helped the little people out and insurance companies are starting to cover birth control pills. I guess certain types of birth control are still not covered but I’ll take what I can get for now.
Taking birth control pills since my teenage years
I find it ridiculous that insurance will pay for Viagra for men without a fuss but made a huge ordeal out of paying for birth control pills. What sense does that make? None at all. At least not in my opinion. Then again, people don’t normally ask for my opinion. I’ve been taking birth control pills since my teenage years and have probably spent thousands of dollars on them. It was only the last few years that I’ve been able to save money with the insurance company helping me out.
I now only have to pay $5 per month for my birth control pills. That’s a lot cheaper than trying to raise a child! Not that I don’t love my daughter to pieces but my husband and I are not yet ready for another baby. Which is why, I was giddy with excitement when insurance finally started assisting.
My new pills were wonderful
When my doctor originally put me on birth control pills, I experienced the lovely side effect of weight gain. I was definitely not thrilled. My monthly periods began to get incredibly regular and I was soon able to even tell you the exact time of the day I would get my period on a certain day of the month. I loved that effect of the pills. The birth control pills were supposed to help me with the horrible cramping that I had each month, but that didn’t happen. I still had the horrible cramping and found myself incredibly moody. When I expressed all of this to my doctor, she changed my birth control pills to something else. My new pills were wonderful. Years and years later, I am still on that brand of birth control pills.
Insurance companies are starting to pay for birth control pills
Now that some or most of insurance companies are starting to pay for birth control pills, it is definitely worth looking into. Sure, you have to remember to take a tiny pill every morning but isn’t that better than waking up with a baby every few hours? I love my birth control pills.
